Having a versatile biscuit recipe can be very useful when making dinner, or breakfast. This recipe will have you reaching for more, whether it be for pairing with sausage gravy or slathered in butter and jam, or apple butter. Whatever way you choose to eat them just know they are so delicious they can become addictive!

Ingredients:

First, Preheat your oven to 350* degrees.

In a large mixing bowl sift together the 4 Cups of flour and the 8 tsp. of baking powder. Then add the 1 tsp of salt and the 2 TBS of granulated sugar.

Stir to incorporate together.
Add in the 1 Cup of Crisco shortening.

With a pastry cutter work the Crisco into the flour mixture until you notice coarse crumb forming.

In a separate bowl whisk together the 2 Large eggs and 1 ½ Cups of milk. Mix the milk and egg mixture into the dry mixture. Only stir it together enough to moisten the mixture. It will be sticky.

Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough about 15-20 times. If the dough is too sticky add in 1/3 Cup of flour at a time until it is manageable.

Then form the dough into a circle and pat it down until the dough is roughly about ½ inch thickness.
Do not try to use a rolling pin it will stick to the dough way too much!

Using a round cutter or a glass with the rim dipped in a little loose flour cut out the biscuit rounds.

Place on an ungreased baking sheet for about 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are a gorgeous golden brown.

You can use these slathered in butter and honey, or for biscuits and sausage gravy or however you like them! They are very versatile!
