Caramel Apple Brownies Anyone? I know what your thinking; "Brownies are supposed to be chocolate!" Right? And trust me I hear you! I love love love chocolate in all its chocolaty goodness form. But for the sake of being fall and apples are everywhere! Try this out for a fall twist on an old favorite! I promise you will be so happy you did!

Ingredients:
-
3 large, sweet apples, peeled, cored and chopped ( I used my apple peelier to save time)
-
1 Orange (zested and squeezed)
-
1 cup sugar
-
12 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
-
1 large egg
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice
-
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
-
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
First things first. Pre-heat the oven at 350 degrees. Then peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces. Then toss with lemon juice to keep from browning.

Heat orange in a microwave for 10-15 seconds to help release juices. Then zest an entire orange into a small bowl and squeeze the juice out. (avoid the seeds if they fall in just fishem' out! ) set a side.

Next in a medium bowl combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt. ( Yes my salt is pink! I like to use Himalayan Pink Salt. But you can use whatever you have! )

So next, gently whisk the dry ingredients together. The amazing spices will smell so good once you have combined them! Set aside.

So next in a stand up mixing bowl add the softened room temperature butter and white sugar. Cream together.

After the butter and sugar are light and fluffy add in the eggs.Once they are fully incorporated add in the orange juice and orange zest. Add in Vanilla. Mix well.

Next, mix in the flour and spices mixture. A little at a time.
Don't do what I did and dump it all in at once because you will get a huge flour and spice cloud!

Next, add in the chopped apple pieces. Mix well.

Stop the mixer and scrape the bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula to make sure everything is getting mixed evenly.

Next in a slightly greased 8x10 pan spread the brownie dough until it is evenly distributed. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes until the crust of the brownie is slightly golden.

Now just cut into squares and add a drizzle of your favorite caramel sauce! Enjoy warm!
