Sausage Gravy

I live in a house~hold where my hubby and kids could eat breakfast for all three meals of the day! One of their favorites is Sausage gravy and biscuits! I have tried to make it healthier while still maintaining its great taste. Try it out and tell me how it goes over in your home!
Ingredients:

-
1 ~ LB of ground sausage of your choice
-
1/3 Cup of flour
-
3 ~ 4 Cups of whole milk
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Optional: a little butter if there isn't enough grease from the sausage.
So, I have found that Bob Evans has a Natural take on ground sausage. This hardly has any fat and when cooked down most of the time there is minimal grease in the pan. Another option to make it healthier is to use Turkey ground sausage. It tastes great with better health benefits.

Brown the meat and then add in about 1/3 of a Cup of flour.

Toss the meat and flour mixture so that it is all gently coated.

Gently stir in 1 Cup of milk.

Combine it until it starts to thicken and is bubbly.

Add in another Cup or two of milk, allowing the gravy to thicken and bubble while gently stirring. If it is still too thick for your liking add a little more milk. Just remember as it cools it thickens quickly. Add salt and pepper to taste if you like.

Creamy Goodness..

Now, you can use store bought biscuits if you want to save time, but nothing beats a homemade baking powder biscuit! Head on over to the Sides section of this website to get the recipe! They are so perfect and light and fluffy!
