Southern Sweet Tea

southern sweet tea

So, I may not be from the South but I certainly drink my tea like I am meant to be there! The Sweeter the better and keep 'fillin' up my glass!

Ingredients:

  • 6 ~ Family sized tea bags or 12 ~ regular sized tea bags

  • 1 ~ tsp of baking soda

  • 5 ~ Cups granulated white sugar

  • 32 ~ Cups of water

First, boil 16 Cups of water in a large stock pot.

Then unwrap all the tea bags and pull off the little paper tag. Tie all of the tea bags together. Once the water starts to boil turn off the heat and add in the tea bags.

After allowing the tea bags to steep about 25 ~ 30 minutes remove the bags.

Add in the 5 Cups of sugar while the tea is still hot. Stir until completely dissolved!

Add in the baking soda and give it a gentle stir!

Add ice to your container in which you intend to refrigerate your tea in!

Add the tea to the ice filled container...

So beautiful!

Add 16 Cups of cold water.

Pour into your favorite sugar rimmed mason jar or glass. Add a lemon wedge if you like. Sit back on that porch swing and enjoy those nice warm lightnin' bug filled nights!
